Take A Downtown Building, Add Some Hops and You Get Historical Brews 🙂
It’s no secret that the micro-brewery industry has exploded and continues to grow very rapidly. And with ongoing efforts to revitalize many small town downtowns by bringing in new businesses and preserving existing spaces, there seems to be a natural path for “beer meets building”. Recently, many Maine downtowns have seen a rise in this winning combination of hand- crafted product setting up in historical sites. In a number of downtowns around the state, you’ll find hand-crafted, Maine-made beer that is sure to suit every palette — whether it is a hoppy IPA or a citrusy ale — in buildings that once housed textile mills or even an 1880s delivery service office.
To get you started, here are a few of Maine’s downtown breweries.
