The Biddeford Mills Museum located in the heart of Biddeford's historic district works to preserve the rich heritage of the mills in honor of all who worked here and to strengthen the community’s knowledge of mill history to reinforce a broader sense of community. The Biddeford Mills Museum tells the story of Biddeford's biggest industry, and the people who supported it.

Tour Information for Biddeford Mills Museum

During the summer tour season Biddeford's textile mill doors will open once more, with access to the unique underground canals! Tours are offered during June, July and August and are often guided by former mill workers, who are passionate about Pepperell and know the history of these incredible buildings.

Group tours for organizations and schools are available in the spring and fall with prior arrangement. From September to May, our staff is available to provide your group or organization with an in-person presentation at the Museum in Biddeford or at a location of your choice within York County.

When you choose to experience Biddeford Mills Museum's educational programs, you will learn about the textile industry and the contributions made by local mill workers from the 1840s to 2009 and experience the grand scale of the spinning and weaving rooms, the soaring ceilings raised by stately columns, and the rushing power of the Saco River.

Reservations for Historic Tours

Two-hour walking tours run June 2 through Labor Day on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday each week. Tours start at 10 am and finish by 12 pm. Please arrive by 9:50 am. Meet your tour guide in the Pepperell Center at 40 Main Street (entrance beside Portland Pie).

The first 25 registrants will be booked on a first come, first serve basis for any Historical Tour. Larger groups can be accommodated with at least three (3) day prior notice.

Safety

The Historical Tours are designed for those able to climb minimal stairs. Walking shoes should be worn. For safety reasons no open toed shoes are allowed. Children under the age of five (5) are discouraged from participating.

Parking

Please view the Parking Map. Please do NOT park in the lot facing the Mill. This is specifically for Portland Pie customers and your car will be towed.
