Monsters Run the River: A Halloween-themed race along the Presumpscot River in downtown Westbrook!
Bring your running shoes and your Halloween costume to downtown Westbrook for the ninth annual Monsters Run the River on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Hosted by Discover Downtown Westbrook, this festive fall event combines a scenic race with music, local vendors, food offerings, and awards for both race results and costumes.
Starting and finishing at Riverbank Park, the 5K course follows the Presumpscot River along Westbrook’s River Walk, crosses the pedestrian bridge, and continues through neighborhoods north of the river before returning downtown. The final stretch brings runners along Main Street and around the park to the finish line.
Choose the traditional 5K, bring your four-legged running partner for the Canine 5K, or cheer on younger participants in the Kids Fun Run 1K. Children ages 12 and under can join the fun run for free, with no registration required. Its shorter route follows the River Walk toward Cumberland Street before turning back to the finish.
After the race, stay for the vendor market, music, and awards ceremony. Proceeds support Discover Downtown Westbrook and help fund more community events downtown. Find course details and updates on the official event website.
