Downtown Brunswick, Maine is already getting into the Halloween spirit with a month of creative, family-friendly events presented by Brunswick Parks & Recreation. From painted storefronts and pumpkin decorating to a community parade and costume contest, there are plenty of ways to celebrate throughout October 2026.
Paint Downtown for Halloween
The festivities begin with Downtown Window Painting on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gather a team and help transform downtown business windows into colorful Halloween masterpieces.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for families, friends and aspiring artists to share their creativity while giving downtown Brunswick a festive seasonal makeover.
Join the Pumpkin Party
The Pumpkin Party on the Mall takes place Saturday, October 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Participants can decorate pumpkins and enjoy crafts, games, popcorn, a bounce house and more. Pumpkins are $5 each, making this an easy and affordable autumn outing for the whole family.
Dress Up for the Halloween Parade
On Saturday, October 31, downtown Brunswick will welcome costumed characters of every kind for the Annual Parade & Tent or Treat, taking place from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Put on your Halloween costume and join the parade through downtown. Afterward, stick around for Tent or Treating and more community fun. Whether your costume is spooky, silly or imaginative, everyone is invited to take part.
Enter the Virtual Costume Contest
Halloween revelers can also show off their costumes from home through the Virtual Costume Contest. Entries are due by 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.
Contest winners will be announced Monday, November 2, with prizes provided by Frosty’s Donuts.
